TOMY Chuggington Wooden Railway Engines Review

Chuggington Wooden Railway Mtambo
Train sets are one of the most popular toys available today. They are suitable for both boys and girls and wooden sets designed for smaller children are a great introduction to this fabulous and often lifetime hobby.

Based on the Disney Channel's Chuggington show for children, the TOMY Chuggington Wooden Railway Engines come in a variety of characters which can connect easily using a magnetic system. This system is meant for wooden tracks and gives a smooth and controlled ride!

Designed to bring your children and possibly you, hours of fun, let's see what the Chuggington Engines have to offer.

Key Features of the TOMY Chuggington Wooden Railway Engines are:

  • they are construction from real wood not plastic with easy connecting magnets to bring engines together.
  • available in a wide variety of characters - we will look at some of them below.
  • another great perk is they are compatible with other wooden track systems
  • children can start playing with these train engines as young as 2 years old

Are the TOMY Chuggington Wooden Railway Engines Worth Buying?

The TOMY Chuggington toys are aimed at kids who either love the TV show, love playing with toy trains, or both! Although they are designed for kids as young as 2, they can be enjoyed for many years to come and are suitable for kids in a broad age spectrum.

The engines’ colors are vibrant with great attention to detail and are durable enough to withstand the hours of playtime.  The TOMY collection includes additional characters that can be purchased separately.

Here are some of the most popular engines currently on Amazon:

  • Action Chugger
  • Hoot and Toot

There are a variety of sets to choose from to add more detail to the main train set. Train tables, additional wood tracks to create a larger railway, and items to create even more imagination, such as a fueling station are all sold separately to add to the TOMY set.

Although the TOMY Chuggington railway is compatible to the Thomas train tracks, due to the size of the Chuggington engines, they don’t fit through the Thomas tunnels or bridges. One main difference from this set and the Thomas set, is that the TOMY engines have a great attention to detail, but are made of plastic so there is a tendency to fade or show signs of damage with continuous play.

Overall though, the TOMY Chuggington set is affordable and large enough for tiny hands to maneuver. It is a great train set and worth buying for your child.
